All about the paper. And Posters? Well, not yet. And posters, too, are paper, right? So, it would be unfair if our website – where we brag about having all info about papers – does not include information about Poster Sizes.

Poster Sizes are not included in the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) Paper Sizes, but still are pretty much Standard nowadays because of the broad range of use scenarios; ease of availability of Standard Paper. Posters are used for various purposes like Movie Posters, advertisements, Billboards, and small pamphlets to distribute. Also, nowadays, smaller posters are generally printed on A Series Paper Sizes after their introduction in countries that accept ISO; in countries that don’t, smaller Posters are printed on Ledger or Arch Series Paper Sizes.

Billboard Paper Sizes are generally used to print large posters for advertisements; movie posters to be put up on sky-high billboards. Relatively more minor yet big movie posters to be put up in front of movie halls are printed on particular kinds of Standard Paper. Although, during old times, movie posters used to be distributed to people as pamphlets, those paper sizes are specific to their own country of origin. Large Poster Sizes are generally in landscape format; hence, they interchange the length and breadth of standard paper to get the dimensions.

UK Poster Sizes

In the UK and other countries that use the ISO 216 Standards, A Series Paper Sizes are mostly used for Posters other than Billboard and Movie Posters. 2A0, A0, A1, A2, A3, and A4 are the A Series Paper Sizes that are most commonly used for Posters. Of these, 2A0 has the most significant dimensions of 1189 mm × 1682 mm (46.8 in × 66.2 in) and A4 has the smallest aspects of 210 mm × 297 mm (8.3 in × 11.7 in).

Billboard sizes are generally used to refer to the paper of enormous dimensions, as large as flexes. UK Billboard Poster Size ranges from 1 Sheet right up to 96 Sheets, but the most commonly used ones are 1 Sheet, 2 Sheet, and 4 Sheets, with 1 Sheet being the smallest at 508 mm × 762 mm (20 in × 30 in) and 4 Sheet is the largest at 1016 mm × 1524 mm (40 × 60 in). The Billboard Size – Single Sheet is the Double Crown Size of British Imperial Paper Sizes and is used because it fits perfectly for Billboard needs.

UK Movie Poster Sizes

Movie Poster Sizes range from large sizes to put up in front of Cinema Halls to small quantities just for the audience to carry back home. The Sizes are as follows: Cards, Double Crown, One Sheet, Quad, Three Sheet, Six Sheet. Cards have the smallest dimensions of 203.2 mm × 254.0 mm (8.0 in × 10.0 in) and are called the Front of House Cards given away to the audience after a movie. The most considerable dimensions are of Six Sheet Size 2032 mm × 2057.4 mm (80 in × 81 in). Three and Six Sheet Sizes are often given non-standard dimensions, which vary quite a bit from the original ones.

US Poster Sizes

The US and neighbouring nations do not use ISO Standard Paper Sizes but their own traditional North American Standard Paper Sizes. They have 3 Poster Sizes, namely Small, Medium, and Large, and an extra size for small carry-friendly posters called letters made from Letter size paper. Small Size Posters have the Ledger or ANSI B Size dimensions, Medium Size Posters have Arch C Size dimensions, and Large Size Posters have Arch D Size dimensions. Letter Size has the minor aspects of 8.5 in × 11 in, while Large Size has the most significant dimensions of 24 in × 36 in.

In the US, 8 Sheet, 30 Sheet along with other unnamed dimensions are quite popular Poster Sizes for billboards. Most sizes are measured in feet; the most commonly used billboard size is 27 in × 40 in (2ft 3in × 3ft 4 in).

US Movie Poster Sizes

Movie Poster Sizes in the US are available in the following: Lobby Card, Window Card, Insert, Half Sheet, One Sheet, Three Sheet, Six Sheet, 30 × 40 Drive-in, 40 × 60 Drive-in, and Door Panels. Of these, Lobby Card is the smallest size at 11 in × 14 in while Six Sheet is the largest at 81 in × 81 in – a perfectly square sheet of paper. As the name suggests, Lobby Cards, Window Cards, and Insert Poster Sizes are generally cut out of thick paper Card Stock to maintain the durability of the posters.

Locandina, Photobusta Un Foglio, Due Foglio; Quattro Foglio are the sizes of Movie Posters in Italy in increasing order of dimensions. Foglio means Sheet, and hence last three sizes are derived from the UK Sizes for Movie Posters.
